I wrote this book to
provide people with the sort of information that I found difficult
to get hold of when I started having RSI problems, hopefully saving
them time and money. It is suitable both for employers and employees,
in fact, for anyone who wants to know more about the dangers of
repetitive activity. There are sections on:
- obtaining
a diagnosis
- getting treatment
- changes to
the work and home environments
- legal aspects
and employment
- with
a foreword by Dr. Rod Hughes, MD FRCP
"... an extremely useful addition to
the literature on RSI ... full of practical advice not found easily
elsewhere." RSI Association Newsletter Autumn 1999.
"Well written and produced."

you are about RSI the better chance you have of getting better.

This book differs from
mine in that it does not concentrate on RSI specifically. It is
written as both a self-help book, and as a guide for physicians
and therapists who deal with patients that have chronic pain. It
contains sections on:
- the mechanisms
behind pain
- mind-body
connection
- nutrition
- setting goals
- recording
pain techniques
- relaxation
techniques
- coping strategies.
Basically I think that
the sections describing pain, both the physical changes that occur
in the nervous system as well as the link to the mind, are the best
that I have come across in any book. It is easy to understand but
quite detailed and technical. The book also contains pacing exercises,
advice on starting a pain diary (worth doing) and dealing with day
to day issues. To follow through the program does take some commitment
if you are going to get results, but is definitely a *must* read
for anyone with chronic pain.
